Jacob Mellis celebrates his goal.

Jacob Mellis rescued a point for Barnsley with a brilliant free-kick against Birmingham City.

Nikola Zigic gave City the lead after just ten minutes, tapping in after an impressive cross from the left wing.

Dan Burn then hit the bar for City with a header and Luke Steele made a great save to deny Chris Burke.

In the second half, Mellis curled in a fantastic free-kick after 60 minutes and the Reds could have won it but David Perkins blazed over.

Barnsley are still bottom despite the draw and are now five points adrift of safety.
