Barnsley lost at home for the first time in 2013 and under David Flitcroft as they went down 3-2 to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
The Reds trailed 2-0 at the break but Tomasz Cywka and Chris O'Grady scored in the first ten minutes of the second half to make it 2-2. Bolton defender Craig Dawson, who played under Flitcroft at Rochdale, won the game on 61 minutes and left the Reds onee point and one place above the bottom three.
Barnsley were second best in the first half and went behind when David Ngog and Chris Eagles exchanged passes in their box before French striker Ngog netted at the second attempt following a fine save by Luke Steele.
Jay Spearing made it 2-0 on 36 minutes with a low shot from 25 yards which took a deflection before nestling in the bottom corner.
Barnsley were much better after the break and, after the impressive Cywka made it 2-1 with a low shot from outside area, O'Grady levelled when visiting goalkeeper Adam Bogdan spilled a shot.
The Oakwell team and crowd were buoyant but when Steele failed to hold Sam Ricketts' free-kick, Dawson pounced. Jim O'Brien had a great chance to level instantly but the Wanderers were able to hold on and win.
