David Flitcroft will today be handed Barnsley's managerial position until the end of the season, the Chronicle can reveal.
After being rejected by Sean O'Driscoll and Terry Butcher, Barnsley chiefs will turn to Flitcroft, who has guided the Reds to two wins in the three games he has been in temporary charge.
Owner Patrick Cryne is expected to back Flitcroft in the transfer market and several loan signings could join the club this week.
Flitcroft told the Chronicle last week that he has already identified players he would like to bring to Oakwell should he be given the job on a permanent basis.
