Striker Craig Davies today joined Bolton.

Barnsley striker Craig Davies has completed his £300,000 move to Bolton.

Davies, who netted 20 times in 64 appearances for the Reds, said he had other options but felt Bolton was the best move for him.

He told the Chronicle: “It’s been an amazing 18 months at Barnsley and although I had a couple of other options, Bolton was the one that stuck out for me. Bolton is a great club that has just come down from the Premier League and it’s a great step in my career.

“I’ll always be looking at Barnsley’s results and look forward to playing at Oakwell later this season. I’m not sure what kind of reception I’ll get but hopefully the fans will recognise that I always gave my all for the club.”

Davies, who turned 27 on the same day he signed for Bolton, believes Barnsley are capable of staying up.

He added: "They're a good bunch of lads at Barnsley and that team was fighting all the way. People will say that’s been the story of our season but I really do believe we had some bad luck. They certainly have enough in them to avoid relegation.

“I really enjoyed my time at Barnsley. I liked all the players and don’t have a bad word to say about anybody."
