Reds boss Keith Hill says striker Craig Davies should have been ‘more honest’ about the hamstring problem that has ruled him out for two to four weeks.
The striker pulled up in the last minute of the win at Charlton on Saturday.Davies had just returned from international duty with Wales during which he played 30 minutes against Scotland and was an unused substitute in Croatia.
Hill said: “It’s a big blow but it’s a result of the fatigue issue going into the international break and if Craig had been a bit more honest with us then we might have withdrawn him from the game ten minutes before we did.
“It’s a bitter pill to swallow but it’s something we will try and manage. It is a shame because Craig’s performance at Charlton was probably the best I’ve ever seen without him scoring.”
Hill has inquired about three strikers but has not been successful.
