Third straight loss for rugby club

Barnsley suffered their third successive defeat and slipped to third bottom on Saturday as they went down 43-27 at home to Driffield Yorkshire One.

 

The visitors scored four first half tries and stormed into a 29-10 lead at the break before Barnsley won the more even second half 17-14 as Driffield were shown two yellow cards.

 

Lester Bell scored a hat-trick for the visitors while Harvey Harding and Robin Kitching also touched down.The Barnsley tries came from Andrew Appleyard, Ben Wilson and substitute Paddy Jensen while Josh Smith kicked 12 points.

 

Barnsley's local rivals Wath moved up to second with a 20-17 win at Bridlington.
