Freedman leaves Palace before they visit Oakwell

Tuesday 23rd October 2012
Keith Hill.

Former Middlesbrough defender Curtis Fleming and veteran manager Lennie Lawrence will be in charge of Crystal Palace for their match at Barnsley tonight after manager Dougie Freedman left to join Bolton Wanderers.

Freedman had led the Eagles into the top six and will now take charge of the Trotters, the home town club of Barnsley boss Keith Hill.

Both teams go into the match without their best players. Craig Davies picked up an hamstring injury in Barnsley's trip to Charlton while Palace ace Wilfried Zaha is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Millwall. Stephen Dawson is also a doubt for Barnsley after straining his groin.

An official Palace statement read: "Crystal Palace Football Club can confirm that first team manager Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton Wanderers.

"The board of the club would like to put on record their thanks to Dougie for all his efforts over the past couple of years and their disappointment over the events of the past few days.

"The search for a replacement starts immediately."
