Reuben Noble-Lazarus could be sent out on loan this season while striker Rhys Oates is likely to be the latest player to be promoted from the youth team into the first team squad.

Noble-Lazarus has struggled to break into the first team under Keith Hill whose assistant David Flitcroft says the 19-year-old may benefit from a change of scenery.

Flitcroft said: “Reuben has taken the club for granted in the past and it has gone a bit stale for him here. He was excellent for the under 21s on Monday but some other players have jumped ahead of him in the squad. He has played a lot of under 18s or under 21 football. It is time for him to step up to the plate and start playing for three points on Saturday on loan.”

Barnsley lad Oates scored twice in the under 18s’ 3-0 win over Leeds two weeks ago then netted for the development squad in the 3-2 win over Coventry on Monday. Flitcroft said: “Rhys Oates impressed me on Monday and could be the next player we promote into the first team squad.”
