Development squad lose 3-0 lead at Wigan

Monday 17th September 2012
Luke Steele is in superb form.

Barnsley's development squad lost a three-goal lead in a 3-3 draw at Wigan Athletic on Monday afternoon.

The Reds fielded last season's Player of the Year Luke Steele as well as Lee Collins and Toni Silva.

They raced into a 3-0 lead as Danny Rose scored twice, including a penalty either side of a strike by John Rooney, brother of England striker Wayne, who is on trial with Barnsley.

But former England under 20 star Callum McManaman scored in the last minute of the first half and the first of the second to make it 3-2. Argentinean International striker - who had struggled to make an impact since moving to Wigan in 2010 – scored a late equaliser.

The draw gives Barnsley their first point of the season.
