Barnsley were given a lesson in Yorkshire League One life when they went down 33-10 at home to Scarborough on Saturday.
The Shaw Laners made a superb start the week before with a win over York but were second best against their east coast visitors.
Scarborough raced into a 13-0 lead with two penalties and an unconverted try. Barnsley, who had nearly scored earlier when captain Dave Reed was held up over the line, got back into the match with tries either side of the break.
Arron Gaunt scored the first by touching down in the corner after a good backs move then Andrew Appleyard jinked past several tacklers to go over. Josh Smith missed both conversions and Scarborough were still ahead at 13-10. The visitors recovered and secured victory with three more tries.
