Summer signing Jacob Mellis hopes the first headed goal of his career is the first of many strikes for Barnsley this season.
Midfielder Mellis, more known for his passing and shooting than aerial prowess, nodded in the winner in the 1-0 success over Bristol City on Saturday.
The 21-year-old – who is in his second spell at Oakwell after playing 16 games on loan from Chelsea last year – has been used as an orthodox central midfielder for most of the season but was deployed behind the strikers on Saturday.
Mellis said: “I am enjoying playing the advanced role and hopefully I will score a lot more goals. Last time I was at Barnsley I scored two in my first two games then slowed down and didn’t score again.
“I have never scored a header before but it was a good team goal and it is nice to get the my first of the season."
