Hill gives players week off

Boss Keith Hill watches his side battle to victory

The Barnsley players have not trained at all this week as manager Keith Hill gives his injury-ravaged squad time to recover during the international break.

The Reds are in the middle of a two-week break from competitive action and Hill is hopeful that some of the ten injured players will be ready to play against Blackpool on September 15.

Mido, Luke Steele and Jim O’Brien have long-term injuries and are very unlikely to feature against the Tangerines but some others could return.

The likes of Matty Done, Jim McNulty, David Perkins, Rob Edwards and Paul Digby have less serious injuries and the club is hopeful they will be back in action soon.

The Oakwell changing rooms have been empty since Monday when the Barnsley under 21s lost 3-2 to Birmingham in a Development League game.

Two of the Reds team from that match – Barnsley-born teenage forwards Jordan Clark and Danny Rose – have been offered new deals by the club. They are both currently signed up until the end of the season but the Reds want to add another year to their deals.
