Brunt helps England to 17th straight Twenty20 success

Wednesday 5th September 2012
Katherine Brunt.

Katherine Brunt helped England women's team to extend their winning Twenty20 run to 17 matches with a 2-0 series win over Pakistan this week.

The 27-year-old fast bowler from Dodworth did not take a wicket as England beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their opening battle in Loughborough on Tuesday afternoon.

But Brunt made an impact in the next game the following day as she took a wicket with the third ball of Pakistan’s innings and recorded figures of two for one off two overs as the tourists made 81 for five chasing 161.

Brunt said: “Pakistan are not traditionally one of the strongest teams in women’s cricket but we had not played them for a long time so we didn’t know what to expect. “We prepared the same as if we were playing the best team in the world.”

England will now take on the highly-rated West Indies side in a five-match series starting tomorrow in Chester-Le-Street, Durham before playing in Manchester, Northampton, Arundel and Hove.
