Barnsley-born Ed Clancy added bronze in the omnium last night to the team pursuit gold he won on Friday.
The former Springvale School pupil produced a blistering final ride to claim bronze in the six-event multi-discipline omnium. He had to win the final event, a 1k time-trial to claim a medal and did so by 1.333 seconds. The time was just outside the Olympic record set by Sir Chris Hoy in Athens in 2004.
"I always knew it would be touch-and-go to win a medal and it's an emotional rollercoaster out there," said Clancy.
"At one point I thought I was on for the gold, but that just slipped away."
Clancy was born in Barnsley are grew up in the Penistone area. He moved away as a child and has lived in Huddersfield, St Helen's and Gloucestershire.
