Three injuries in draw at Donny

Saturday 4th August 2012

Barnsley lost three players, including two of their new signings, through injury in their 2-2 draw in a friendly at Doncaster Rovers.

Mido was carried off with a hamstring injury just before the match and replaced by Toni Silva who had to leave the field himself 20 minutes into into the game. David Perkins left the pitch late on with blood pouring from his head.

Martin Woods gave the hosts the lead on 15 minutes but Rob Jones deflected a Stephen Foster cross into his own net after 28.

Barnsley created more opportunities in the first half as home goalkeeper Gary Woods made simple saves from Kelvin Etuhu, Matt Done and Jim O'Brien. Craig Davies and Jim McNulty missed fine chances just before the break.

Davies missed two one-on-ones early in the second half but it was third time lucky for the striker who netted on 72 minutes when put clean through by a fine pass from young midfielder Paul Dibgy who came on in midfield.

Triallist Ibrahima Sonko was an unused sub.

But it was 2-2 five minutes later when Barnsley goalkeeper Ben Alnwick totally misjudged a corner and Dave Syers volleyed in at the back post.
