Barnsley-born cyclist Ed Clancy was in the Great Britain pursuit team that smashed their own world record to win gold at the London Olympics on Friday.
The former Springvale Primary pupil teamed up with Geraint Thomas, Steven Burke and Peter Kennaugh to record a time of three minutes and 51.659 seconds which broke the world record they set in qualifying by almost a second.
They were three seconds clear of Australia and New Zealand took bronze.
Clancy's gold follows the excellent performance of archer Amy Oliver who knocked the world number one out of the first round on Wednesday.
