Departed star Jacob Butterfield has backed Keith Hill to succeed at Barnsley despite operating with limited resources.
Butterfield, 22, joined Norwich City this week for a fee that will be decided by tribunal. He has revealed that a host of Premier League and Championship clubs were interested in him including two out of Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Charlton – the clubs promoted from League One this season.
Butterfield said: "Keith Hill is doing a fantastic job given what he has to work with.He has missed out on a lot of targets because he is working on such a tight budget.
“For example, two of the three recently promoted clubs rang me and offered me a ton of money but Barnsley weren’t in a position to do that. They can’t attract players through money so they have to do it through Keith’s ability to develop players.
“There will be a lot of good times ahead under Keith Hill so the fans should be really excited.”
