Norwood deal off

Friday 29th June 2012

Barnsley FC say that Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood has chosen not to sign with them.

The Reds had a bid accepted for the 21-year-old Northern Ireland international but he has chosen to go elsewhere.

Manager Keith Hill told the club's website: “We have done everything that we could as a Club, but Oliver wants to pursue another direction and we wish him all the best.

“Fortunately it has been a quick process and we have not lost too much time. It’s part and parcel of recruitment, some you win, some you lose. We have already moved on to other targets to add to our exciting new signings so far.

“I am still positive and optimistic for future signings and looking forward to our pre-season training and the start of the new campaign.”
