Barnsley are hoping to bring in Port Vale defender Lee Collins on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old is at Oakwell today (Wednesday) for a medical and could be involved in Saturday's game against Reading. His current club Port Vale are in administration.
Collins began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers but did not make an appearance for the Black Country club.
He was sent out on loan to Hereford United then Port Vale and eventually signed with the Valiants in January 2009.
Collins made 162 appearances for Vale and scored four goals. He can play as a centre-back or left-back.
Barnsley are currently without several defenders due to injury so Collins is likely to make the squad on Saturday.
