Wiseman: we didn't deserve day off

Scott Wiseman says the Barnsley players did not deserve a day off on Wednesday after their defeat at Burnley.

Reds boss Keith Hill was so upset with the performance at Turf Moor that he called his squad in for an unscheduled day of work and Wiseman says it was the right decision.

“We did not deserve a day off after that performance,” said Wiseman. “We came in and talked about what went wrong at Burnley and I am sure we will come out better for it.

“The defeat at Watford was disappointing but they are a hard, physical team whereas we thought we would have a better chance against Burnley who like to play football.

“But we let ourselves down on Tuesday night and the manager was right to bring us in. He is not the type of manager who shouts and screams. He calms down and thinks things through before he speaks to us but it was clear he was disappointed this week.”
