A brace from experienced midfielder John Eustace handed Watford the points in a 2-1 victory over Barnsley on Saturday.

Eustace scored either side of the break against a Barnsley side that lacked creativity and spark. Reds' debutant Scott Golbourne grabbed a late consolation for the Reds, but it was too little too late for Keith Hill's men, who slipped to 15th in the table following the defeat.

After the game, Hill said: "It was very boring. Not great to watch. We maybe should have got something out of it. You’ve got to give credit to Watford – they were solid.

“Unfortunately their first goal came as a result of a deflection, but then it went to Eustace – it was a great finish."
