Barnsley defender Rob Edwards believes his manager Keith Hill signed Korey Smith from Norwich because the youngster is a winner.
The 20-year-old central midfielder – who came to Oakwell on a month's loan this week– played for Norwich as they gained consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Edwards spent time at Carrow Road last season and thinks Smith's successful start to his career was a factor in Hill's interest.
“For a young lad, Korey has had an amazingly successful career," said Edwards.
“He played a lot of games last season in the Championship as Norwich went up to the Premier League. It is clear that he is a winner and that is one of the main things the gaffer looks for. Hopefully he will bring his winning style to Barnsley.”
