Diver: Megan Sylvester

Tankersley diver Megan Sylvester will compete with partner Monique Gladding this weekend for the first time since an accident threatened to end their Olympic dream last February.

Gladding smashed her head off a diving board during an event in Russia and initially decided to stop competing in the synchronised event. But she has since resolved to reunite with 17-year-old Megan and they will defend their title at the National Cup in Southend today and tomorrow.

“We are both quite nervous but definitely the main emotion is excitement,” said Sylvester who is also competing individually.

“Training is going really well but we are not feeling much pressure as we haven’t competed for a year.”

Megan will also compete in the individual event.
