MARK Robins is anticipating a ‘big September’ which brings five matches in 18 days after the international break.
This month, Barnsley will host local rivals Leeds united as well as Derby County and travel to Norwich, Reading and Scunthorpe.
Robins is confident his current squad is good enough to succeed in that busy period but has not ruled out bringing in new players once the emergency loan system comes into operation next week.
It was all quiet on Tuesday’s transfer deadline day – with no incomings or outgoings at Oakwell.
Striker Iain Hume had been linked with a loan move to Championship rivals Preston North End, with the possibility of Barnsley-born forward Jon Parkin coming the other way, while Premier League pair Bolton and Blackpool had been reported to be keen on 22-year-old winger Adam Hammill.
