Teacher heads to Number Ten

A HEADTEACHER has been invited to see the Prime Minister next week because her school has improved so much.

Kate Davies will meet Gordon Brown at a reception after Worsbrough Common primary was named the fifth most improved in the country.

"We knew the school had improved but were shocked and delighted because we did not realise we were quite so 'up there'," she said.

The improvement has been over three years. Ms Davies took over two years ago and has introduced a range of innovative teaching methods to make lessons fun.

"Everybody has worked incredibly hard. We have done a lot of work around IT and communicating with parents by text messaging.

"We have got Nintendo DS brain training consoles and we use technology to support education. "We've also started a rock choir. It is about being creative and making learning fun."

She is honoured to be invited to Downing Street but said: "It would be nice to take some of the kids. It is a school effort and it would be nice for Gordon Brown to come here and see what is happening."
