MEET Mid-Air 91 — the latest Barnsley band hoping to fly up the charts.

The lads are attracting interest from a major label which wants them to tour in America.

But first they better get used to being on television after they won a competition to have their song aired on Channel 4's Popworld.

Drummer Ben Hinchliffe, 16, said: “We are very giddy, we can't wait. We had to go to London last month to record our performance. We are chuffed.”

The band of ex-Willowgarth pupils are Ben, Damien Haigh, 20; Paul Brown, 22; and James Dawson, 16. The Brierley lads were selected to appear on the show by viewers who voted for them in their thousands. The group's myspace website has more than 10,000 friends.
