Teacher retires after 30 years

A POPULAR teacher at a Royston Primary School has retired after more than 30 years.

Barbara Fox, a year two teacher at Meadstead Primary School, has taken early retirement and was presented with gifts and flowers from staff and children on Friday.

Deputy Headteacher Kim Dawson said: "Barbara is a very well respected member of the teaching staff and all the children and parents will be very sorry to see her leave."

A surprise party was organised for Barbara, who is originally from Leeds, by the parent's group and was attended by headteachers and members of staff who Barbara has worked with over the years.

Mrs Dawson added: "It was a very emotional week for her. There was the sudden realisation that it would be her last sports day and things like that but she loved her party."
