GORDON Shepherd, chairman of Barnsley Football Club until the end of the 2007-2008 season, was a pupil at Wath Grammar School.

One of his classmates, Tony Pollard, has loaned to Memories a photograph of Form One Alpha 1948 which shows Mr Shepherd second from the right on the back row. Mr Pollard is fifth from the left on next to the back row.

He has been able to name most of the pupils as follows: back row, left to right: Pete Clayton, Susan Thompson, Joan Dobson, Jean Evans, Mary Beaumont, Shirley Powell, Gordon Shepherd, David Hinchliffe.
