RESIDENTS have raised concerns about plans to redevelop the Swinton Brigde canal corridor.
Northern Counties Housing Association want to build 25 units in a development termed 'Canal Tavern' and are in discussions with Rotherham Council.
But at the Wentworth North area assembly on Monday night residents said there was no car parking, it would be a loss of yet more green space and the area was already plagued with litter
One resident said: "What concerns me is we are building 25 units with not one single car parking space between them. I also have concerns about developing that area piecemeal. Surely it should be integrated within the area around it and not as a single development."
A woman also added: "At the moment it is filthy and the question is how will it be kept clean. You can have nice flats but there is still the problem of litter from the food outlets and most of the rubbish is in the canal. It is a major problem."
