Vicar says she feels at home at Elsecar

ALISON Lamb might not look like your typical vicar and for many years she wasn't.

The new reverend for Elsecar Holy Trinity and Worsbrough St Mary's was ordained four years ago and has never looked back.

Alison, 48, said she had always been involved with the church so she decided to take the next step. She said: "I have always had some involvement in the church and I was a licensed reader for a long time. But there was something hassling me so I discussed it with my vicar at the time and here I am. "The last job I had was working for a solicitors but I have done various jobs over the years. But being a vicar is a privilege really. You get invited into homes and see people at their happiest and saddest times."

Alison, who has daughters Abigail, 21, and Emma, 26, moved from her parish in Rossington, Nr Doncaster, to the vicarage on Wath Road last month.

She has continued her role as a police chaplain for Doncaster and sits on a national committee for priests.
