Bungalow home is just the ticket

A DARFIELD centenarian and his wife who were distraught when they found out their home was to be knocked down have moved to another bungalow in Darfield.

They appeared in the Chronicle last month when Clarice, 84, said she did not want to leave Bellbrooke Avenue because she loved the house and its view. She was also worried how Maurice, 100, would cope with the stress of moving.

But the couple moved to Clarney Avenue last week and Clarice said they have settled in well.

She said: "I had a little cry at first when we came in, but it was mostly because I was happy. It's a beautiful little bungalow and I'm sure we'll be very happy here.

"My family have worked so hard decorating and making it nice for us. I'd like to thank Elaine, Barry, David and Elizabeth. I wish everyone could have a family like I've got."

Maurice left from Bellbrooke for the last time for day care at Highgate, and was taken back to the new home. Clarice said he took it in his stride and just said 'it's very nice'.
