Groom records his own version of 'Hero' for bride

By ashley ball, Wombwell/Dearne Reporter Tuesday 26th August 2014
ROMANTIC Rob McBride's version of Enrique Iglesias' 'Hero' was so good his new wife did not even realise it was not the Spanish heartthrob singing it.

Rob, 49, married Beverley Kendall, 45, on Saturday and their first dance was to a slightly different version of 'their' song.

Rob, of Loxley Close, Wombwell, said: "We met on the internet and after I got drunk one night I ended up singing 'Hero' to her.

"Ever since then it's been our song."

Rob said that he wanted to get married before he was 50 and make a gesture on the day.

He had been secretly recording versions of the song at Crib Studios on Cemetery Road, Wombwell, and after a bit of wizardry they made him sound almost like Enrique.
