Protest group vow to fight housing proposals

By Nick Ward Tuesday 26th August 2014
A BARNSLEY protest group opposed to plans for a new housing development are vowing to fight the proposals all the way.

Barugh Residents Against New Development (BRAND) say they will continue to meet regularly to discuss ways they can ensure their demands are met with regard to the proposed housing development at Low Barugh.

The group made a formal complaint regarding issues relating to this development earlier this year, and the group has since decided to take their case to the Local Authority Ombudsman.

BRAND chairman Eric Richardson said: "The decision to do this has not been taken lightly but we believe that the due democratic processes, which should underpin the decision making regarding all planning applications across the whole borough, are being potentially undermined."
