THE parents of a baby who spent four weeks in the special care baby unit at Barnsley Hospital have organised a charity family fun day.

Krystal McCarthy weighed just 3lbs 10oz when she was born by emergency Caesarean section five weeks early.

Mum Amy Miller and dad Michael McCarthy are thrilled to have her home and wanted to give something back to the staff who cared for their daughter.

Michael, 28, who is the landlord at the Ship Inn, Worsbrough Bridge, said: "It was a really worrying time and everything was a bit of a blur, but the staff were brilliant. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do for us."

The couple have organised the fun day for August 25 at the Ship Inn on Park Road.

There will be fun and games for children including a bouncy castle, face painting, nail painting and pass the parcel.
