Honesty best policy for Andrew

By stephanie daley, Assistant Editor Friday 1st August 2014
Pd55677-014 Andrew Levitt

HONESTY, they say, is the best policy.

Unfortunately in this day and age it's unusual to find someone quite as honest as Andrew Levitt. And it's a great pity that the lad's saintly ways seem to have been taken for granted.

Andrew, 29, an IT specialist who works at Barnsley Hospital, found a bulging wallet with £725 outside the Court House pub - but despite handing it in, he's yet to receive a thankyou from the owner.

Police informed Andrew the owner had claimed the wallet which contained the loot that had been given to his son for wedding gifts.

Andrew's mum Christine said: "When the person called at Barnsley Police Station to collect his wallet, the police gave him Andrew's contact details in the hope that he would at least contact Andrew and thank him for his honesty.

"Apparently, this person was attending his son's wedding at the Town Hall and had lost the wallet containing £725 at the Court House pub.

"The money was his son's collection of wedding money.

"This person did not contact Andrew to thank him."

Why not Barry? Isn't a bit of lighthearted news good enough for you in all this doom and gloom? What a shame the poor guy wasn't even contacted! Look at it as good karma!

Dispicable. My son is 5 years old and we bring him up with manners and politeness and if I found out that he'd handed the wallet in id be very happy. If I found out that he didn't say thank you we would have serious words.

What a guy Andrew is! Its disgusting that the claimer doesn't have the decency to thank him for his exceptional honesty.
