Kathleen passes driving test at 77

SPRIGHTLY 77-year-old Kathleen Mitchell really is in the driving seat now she's passed her test.

Kathleen took the test last Thursday and passed with flying colours.

Kathleen, of Barnsley Road, Brierley, decided to learn to drive after her husband Tony, 78, suffered a stroke and underwent treatment for cancer.

"He still drives but it means I can take over if he doesn't feel like it or he gets tired. I can take him to appointments and see our daughter's house in Bude in Cornwall.

"It's on my bucket list to drive there."

** An interview with Kathleen appears in the Barnsley Chronicle newspaper, dated August 1. **

Kathleen wants to say a big thank you to her driving instructor - Nigel Parfitt of Pelican Driving School - who cheerfully taught her the skills and gave have her the confidence to pass.

Comment to 'anonymous' (1) why be so shy? (2) perhaps you should take a look at the stats for safe driving at different age groups....you might find the younger the driver the more risk. (3) ageism is very last millennium.
