A BOXING enthusiast has embarked on a real-life Rocky story to turn his life around in just three months.

Danny Whatley, 37, from Darton Street, Stairfoot, has managed to shed more than five stone since he ditched the pints for the gloves in April.

The delivery driver admits himself that he was a 21-plus stone bum. But after joining the Hoyle Mill amateur boxing club gym on Pontefract Road three months ago he has whittled himself down to just over 16 stones.

The nagging from his partner Lyndsey about his lifestyle led him to the gym while following the boxer's strict regimes has allowed him to lose so much weight.
