By gail robinson, Town Reporter Friday 18th July 2014
Ben Faulkes aka Mr Bloom

A CHILDREN'S television star is set to get Barnsley youngsters in full bloom.

The Alhambra will flourish when it welcomes a popular green fingered children's actor for its summer garden party.

CBeebies favourite, Mr Bloom will visit the centre next month as part of the retail outlet's three week long summer campaign to get Barnsley 'tiddlers' at one with nature and to explore the environment around them.

Mr Bloom will be visiting on the Saturday August 23 for two special performances where he will be encouraging Barnsley young people to get their hands dirty and grow their own food.

I find it clever that even though even though the actor is from Bristol which has the stereotypical accent for anything rural or agricultural, he chose to do his character with a yorkshire/barnsley accent. I reckon he picked the accent up while he was at Bretton College.
