Take over for doctor's surgery

By Lynsey Bradford, Town Reporter Thursday 10th July 2014

PATIENTS at two GP surgeries in Barnsley have been told their doctors have had their contract terminated because the highest standards of care can't be guaranteed.

A health care team from Sheffield has taken over at Brierley and Shafton medical centres, which were run by Dr Magdi Selim and partners.

The Chronicle understands that Dr Selim has been subject of several private hearings of the General Medical Council and restrictions on his practice have been made, including his work as a GP being monitored by another doctor.

He may have been a 'good friend' but patients need up to date care and support from their GP. It's not poor Dr Selim I'm afraid - you don't have numerous General Medical Council cases against you if you practice to a good standard. Its a shame for the patients. And its a shame for the staff who work really hard in the circumstances. Hopefully the new management team will sort everything out and get the surgeries back on track.

If he's not up to scratch why is the GMC allowing him to still practice. He should be struck off .Please look at his GMC record . Poor Drs are everywhere, and being sheltered by the GMC.had it been a nurse ,they would have been struck off.

The receptionists at Brierley medical centre are amazing, they cannot do enough to support and help patients. It is the GP's who have been the let down - inconsistency, unreliable and not listening to patients - Dr's Selim, Baig and Chaudrey you should be ashamed of yourselves! You have not given the health care that your patients are entitled to and deserve - I hope that all three of them never work again! Good riddance!

Most are quick to to jump to the wrong conclusion , they read things then it becomes hear say third party have you heard the latest, I have been a patient of dr selims now since he first come to brierly what a gentleman

, and a fantastic doctor, yes we have bad letters to say the surgery will be run now by a sheffield trust, the only thing wrong doctor Selim did was to employ choudry and baig they let the standards if the practice drop giving each patient a slot of 10 mins ans saying in printed notice. One problem per appointment , the reception staf are fantastic so was adele the practice nurse

I am sure everyone has their own opinions but I myself will remain a brierley and shafton patient and am looking forward to dr selims return , a gentleman and a scholar long my he stay at the practice, there is a motto you can't please everyone all of the time !! I will be over joyed to see him return
