A HAIRSTYLIST from Elsecar is retiring after 37 years in business.

Julie Anne Butcher is hanging up her scissors after 37 years at the helm of Julie Anne's salon in Fitzwilliam Street, Elsecar.

Over the years she has created all kinds of weird and wonderful hair styles - among them are Kevin Keegan 'poodle perms' and Farrah Fawcett Major-style flicks in the 1970s to today's close-crops and crazy colours.

Katy Bailey, 27, of Cherry Tree Street, Elsecar, will take over the salon after working for Julie Anne for four years.
