Florist offers free flowers to needy families

A FLORIST is offering free flowers to families who cannot afford to pay for the funeral of their loved ones.

Sara Headley, of Sara's Flowers and Teas, on Pitt Street, in the town centre, said: "There's a lot of people who just can't afford it, it's really sad.

"It's not something we particularly advertise, we don't want to be saying 'free flowers for funerals'.

"It's a very confidential, discreet service we provide mainly when people are referred to us by other organisations, such as social services.
"It tends to be a single spray for the coffin."

Sara pays for the flowers herself.

That's a nice gesture, but if you don't want to advertise that you do it, why is it in the Chronicle??

Because it's newsworthy Andy. This isn't an advert.
