JOANNE Baldwin is living proof that you can have your cake and eat it.

The 46-year-old mother has lost more than four and a half stones despite her love of baking and eating cakes and pies.

Joanne, of West Street, Hoyland Common, has dropped four dress sizes in 12 months after joining Weight Watchers to try and improve her health.

She suffers from chronic arthritis for which she has to inject herself with medication and decided to lose the weight after seeing a holiday photo taken in Crete.

She joined Weight Watchers in April last year weighing 13 stones and 12 pounds.

She didn't enjoy going going to the pub or clothes shopping and would cry in front of the mirror.

Fast forward 12 months and she now weighs just over nine stones and has bought a bikini for her next holiday to Turkey.

"Because of my arthritis I've done it without any exercise at all, which a lot of people can't believe - but it can be done. I'm only five feet two inches and I just thought enough was enough. Buying a bikini is nothing to some people but now I've got a smile on my face all the time."

Joanne continued to bake and was still able to eat the cakes having changed some of the ingredients. She also cut out fried foods and butter, and drinks skimmed milk.
