A DEMENTIA champion care service from South Kirkby has expanded, taking over the former Galtee More surgery building on Doncaster Road, Barnsley.

Roses Socialcare offers community home care as well as day care and is looking to replicate its success in South Kirkby in Barnsley.

The care service, which specialises in dementia, is already open for bookings and the day centre.

Senior manager Lorraine Jones said: "The day centre will be centred around people with mental health needs, from young adults to the elderly, and a full range of activities by fully trained staff.

"It will be run from here and there are two floors to this building with five rooms for activities, which will be a full range of activities, and downstairs we have a big recreational room so we're planning on doing lots with that."
