Transformation for local pub revealed

By gail robinson, Town Reporter Tuesday 8th April 2014

A LOCAL country pub has closed whilst it undergoes a major transformation.

The Strafford Arms in Stainborough has been acquired by Fine and Country Inns who, in partnership with Punch Taverns, will invest £500,000 in a major refurbishment.

The work will take six weeks and when the pub re-opens, 30 new jobs will be created.

The Strafford Arms is expected to open at the beginning of May.

John Laite, from Punch Taverns, said: "We want the Strafford Arms to become one of Yorkshires little gems that can provide a comforting country inn experience with a wide selection of drinks and a quality dining offering both for local people and the many visitors to Stainboroughs' incredible heritage site at Wentworth Castle."

Hi Punch! Any danger of decent wheelchair access, for once?

Why, in this day and age, certain pubco's are still refurbishing their portfolio in a manner which excludes disabled customers, is a baffling annoyance.
