Help needed for thriving girl guides

By Ed Elliot, Penistone Reporter Friday 4th April 2014
The 53rd Barnsley Guides

A THRIVING girl guide group is looking for a regular adult helper.

The 53rd Barnsley Guides, which meets at Hoylandswaine Village Hall, is run by leader Maxine Bashforth, who has been involved for more than 30 years.

She has been on her own since her previous helper left, due commitments to the local brownie group, in September.

Maxine said: "If you think you may be able to spare an hour and a half on Monday evenings to help keep this unit going please contact me.

"You can be a unit helper (not in uniform) or you may wish to train as a leader - training and support will be given."

The group, which has 15 members aged ten to 14, meets on Monday evenings during school term times.

Contact Maxine on 762454, or email, for more information.
