DIAMOND couple Raymond and Lily Caton have bowled their way to 60 years together and are hoping for many more.

Raymond, 83, and Lily, 84, met at a pub in Worsbrough and the pair from Hoyland and Hoyland Common courted for a year before marrying in 1954.

The couple moved to Cherry Tree Court in Goldthorpe last year and are fitting in well.

"We get involved in all sorts now that we live in this area and we have both been indoor bowling champions," said Raymond, a former steelworker in Stocksbridge.

"I made a good choice to start with and we have always worked with the marriage, that's the main thing.

I hope we've got many more years to come."

They celebrated their anniversary with their two daughters, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
