Gateway units mark end of £15m town regeneration.

By Ed Elliot, Penistone Reporter Sunday 15th December 2013

The final phase of a £15 million regeneration scheme in Penistone town centre will be completed early in the new year.

Work on the gateway project on St Mary's Street, which includes six commercial units and 21 offices, was supposed to finish last month.

But Dransfield Properties, the company behind the build, says it will now be completed in the first few weeks of 2014.

Amanda Holmes, from Dransfield, said: “Over the last couple of weeks we’ve seen things really moving along on site and we’re looking forward to seeing the project completed early next year.

"We're currently marketing the units we have available and targeting companies offering business and professional services as well as digital and media firms who are interested in in being based in the heart of this lovely and thriving market town."

Work has started on felting the pitched roof on the building and the windows and roof glazing will be installed next week before the Christmas break.

The plastering on the ground floor units should now be completed and shop fronts will start to be installed on Monday.

The gateway is the final phase of the town centre regeneration scheme, which also includes Tesco, a town centre car park and the market area completed in 2010.

Several local businesses including Simon Blyth Estate Agents have committed to taking space in the building once it has been completed. The remaining spaces are being marketed.
