Barnsley has received a town centre retail boost with news of seven new businesses moving into the Arcade.
It means the shopping area will be almost 100 per cent occupied once they are all trading.
To build on that success, existing traders are planning a series of marketing and promotion events designed to attract even more shoppers.
It was only a few months ago that several units had or were about to close down and fears were expressed that the Arcade was becoming a forgotten part of the town centre.
But Andrew Corbett, managing director of Smith's Chartered Surveyors, confirmed the new businesses moving in and said this was "the best news we have had for the Arcade for quite some time."
Two new business have already moved in and opened their doors - Twisted Sister a fashion store, is in the former Koffi Bean shop and PicaLilys takeaway has replaced Foster's sandwich shop.
Mr Corbett confirmed a local bar operator is to take over the former Durty O'Dwyers and that will re-open as a cafe/bar/restaurant.
