Little Leoni Grosse wowed judges at a Barnsley dance festival and won herself seven trophies.

The nine-year-old attends the Maria Penrose School of Dance in Silkstone and competed in a dance festival held over two weekends at Barnsley Academy.

Leoni, of Darton, performed 17 dances and was most pleased with winning the junior cabaret aggregate trophy for the highest score for three solo dances.

Mum Nadine, of High Close, Darton, said: "It is the fourth year in a row she has had her name on that trophy and this year is the last time she can do it because of her age so it was lovely for her to win.

"I am very proud and she makes me cry all the time. It's very hard work and a lot of work is involved for parents too."

Leoni, a pupil at Cawthorne primary who dreams of being a professional dancer, also scooped trophies in the modern, junior tap, song and dance, intermediate song and dance duet, intermediate cabaret duet and Greek categories.
