More than 50 jobs to come to DIY firm

More than 50 jobs could be created over three years after DIY firm KDA moved to new premises in Dodworth.

Cliff Tibble, who started his business on a market stall, has bought a 64,000 square feet unit on Fall Bank Industrial Estate.

He said he will need employees to replenish shelves, for stock rotation, admin roles, and the logistics side of things.

Cliff, a former miner at Dodworth Colliery, said: "I believe the number of jobs will increase to more than 50. The location we are in is brilliant - there is nothing towards Newcastle, or the east coast or Nottingham.

"So it's going to bring income into Barnsley. It's a positive thing for Barnsley."

He has moved the business 100 yards from a rented unit.

KDA grew after Cliff started out as a market trader.

He spent £1,500 on stock and £4,000 on a van to make sure he could get to various markets.
